The word "church" as it is commonly used refers to a building where people come together for worship. However, that is not the meaning of the original languages. In Greek the word is "Ekklesia" and the meaning of this word is the "Assembly or Congregation" of a called out group of people to meet for a common purpose. Also the Apostolic Writings teach that we, the called out ones, are the Body of Yeshua, therefore, when we meet as an assembly we meet as the Body of the Messiah and each one of us is and plays an important part in the Whole Body, the Assembly.
The original languages convey a meaning of a group of people that come together as an assembly or congregation for the purpose of praising and worshiping our Creator, Redeemer, Savior, Protector, and Provider. The assembly meets to bring glory and honor to Yahweh and Yashua through the power of the Holy Spirit (Ruaj Hakodesh). The assembling of the people to worship is what "church" is and should be. The congregation can assemble anywhere that is practical.
We believe that when the assembly comes together for worship there should be libeerty for each person to participate. Each believer should prepare during the week to meet as one on the Sabbath and participate in the fellowship with a song, a prayer or a word of encouragement from the Scriptures as the Holy Spirit may lead. The assembly is the choir and the assembly in unison should sing praises to Yahweh. The Scriptures should be read from Genesis to Revelation and difficult passages explained for the benefit of all. The entire assembly should be discussing the Scriptures. By the way, the Jews to this day when they meet in the Synagogue they read a portion of the Torah beginning in Genesis and ending in Deuteronomy. The cycle repeats every year. Since the times of Moses this has been their weekly practice. We, the called out assembly of the Messiah, would benefit greatly if we read a weekly portion of the Scriptures from Genesis to Revelation and repeated the cycle every year. How can we grow if we do not know the Scriptures? How can be know the Scriptures if we do not study them? Each one of us is a priest before Yahweh because Yeshua bought that right for us with His own blood. He gave us the freedom to meet as one and to participate individually when we meet as one... each with a song, a hymn, a word, etc., but everything done decently and in order and according to the Scriptures.
Are we going to listen to the Holy Spirit and do what Yahweh commands and meet to worship Him in Spirit and in Truth?
Yeshua said that where two or three are gathered together in His Name; there He is in the midst of them. Therefore, when you meet at home with your children and spouse or mother and father and read the scriptures and sing praises you are "having church". When you meet with other believers to study the Scriptures, pray and sing spiritual hymns you are meeting as an assembly of called out believers. Therefore, you are meeting as a local "Body of Yashua the Messiah".
No one needs a dedicated building, a theological school trained preacher, a choir director, Sunday School teachers, etc. to have "church". All that you need is a group of more than two. Your home will do wonderfully. The choir director will be the Holy Spirit and He will also be the Leader of the assembly. The center of attention will always be Yahweh the Creator. Our authority will be the Lord Yeshua the Messiah who purchased that right and authority with His death and resurrection. We will be One with the Father and the Son just as Yeshua promised in the wonderful portion of the Scriptures found in the book of John and in chapters fourteen (14) to seventeen (17). Read it please.
