The Sabbath - 7th Day - Day of Rest
The Sabbath should be kept to honor the Creator
and His creative acts.
And as a symbol of being set free (a rescue... a rest) from sin.
Exodus 20:8-11 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Deuteronomy 5:12-15 Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee. Six days thou shalt labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou. And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day.
Which day is the day of rest!... What does Yahweh and the Bible say?... What does man say?... Who is correct?
Some people claim that one day out of seven is all that you need to fulfill the observance of the day of rest. Therefore (they claim), you can rest on any day between Sunday and Friday and call it a Sabbath. Since day one of Creation our planet has been ruled by the weekly cycle of day one, day two, day three, etc... until day seven. It has never changed. Some cultures still use that terminology, including the Jews. The day of rest is the seventh day and there is only one day that meets that criteria.
There is also a cycle of months and years. However, that cycle has changed. Search into history and you will verify this. That is why most writers refers to the year 3-4 BC for the birth of Yeshua. The calendar was adjusted and it was easier to place the birth of the Savior back three or fours years than to change all annals of history.
The weekly cycle of seven days has never changed since our Creator instituted it. He rested from His creative acts on the seventh day and blessed it and made it holy. He commanded that everyone should remember this special day. He has never changed it to any other day. Man has changed it but not our Creator. Therefore, who do we obey? Do we obey man or Yahweh our God, our Creator, our Savior, our Provider, our Everything? Search the Scriptures with an open mind and ask Yahweh to show you His Truths. He will. When He does obey and do what is right!
